Vision and Mission
We believe that God
has called the Valley Methodist Church to be a
Christ filled people, bringing God's love and healing to a
hurting community.
Thus, we will equip people to understand, experience and live God's
unconditional love.
We are therefore committed to the following values:
- To seek a BALANCED SPIRITUALITY. We believe that we must be people who are in a growing relationship with God; a relationship
characterized by worship, prayer and meditation on the scriptures. We also believe
that we must express our love for God in our love for our neighbour and be
involved with the needs of people in our community.
- To be a LIFE SHARING COMMUNITY. We believe that, as a
congregation, we are a family. This means that we need to share our faith experiences with each other; to share our joys and
sadness with each other; and
share our possessions with those in our church who have physical need.
- To be a people of PRAYER. We believe that nothing happens
without prayer. Therefore, every part of our church life needs to be soaked in prayer; our plans need to be conceived in prayer; our community and country
needs to be upheld in prayer. We believe that prayer should be a basic
ingredient to all our meetings.
- To show a COMPASSIONATE LOVE FOR THE WORLD. We believe that
we are called to love the world with the same compassionate love as the
Father. This means to be gracious towards those who are different from us;
accepting of people who want to share in our worship and fellowship; sensitive to
the needs and pain of those around us.
- To have an OPENNESS TO YOUNG PEOPLE. We believe that young people are an important part of the church. This means that we need to be committed to ministering to the specific needs of young people; to making place for young people to minister in the church and occupy positions of leadership; being welcoming and accommodating of the vibrancy and enthusiasm that young people bring to the church.
