Children and Youth Ministry

A Short Rundown on JFM

JESUS FOR ME is a group of young, dynamic and energetic volunteers who get together on Friday evenings to give kids from grade 1 to grade 7 a place of meeting with God and at the same time have a great time.

Every JFM evening starts off with registration, a welcome and prayer. The theme for the evening is introduced and a scripturally based message and memory verses is presented to the group. The kids enjoy a craft session that links up with the message and allows them to apply what they
have learned to their daily lives. The evening is ended with some fun and games and a group prayer.

What is important is that all is planned to bring across the message of God, his love for us all and the salvation we can experience through Jesus Christ even as small children. From the games right through to the crafts the message of God is recognized. The teaching of memory verses are very successful and there are always children that can remember the verses from previous weeks. What a wonderful way to get to know God’s word.

On 17 August we are starting with a series called “The Light Factory”. Not only are we going to make the area look like a factory, the leaders are also going to be dressing up according to the theme.

All the leaders involved with JFM come together for planning and guidance with Gail the JFM leader. In this way the leaders are also spiritually fed and grow in their individual giftings.

Things to look forward to for the rest of the year is a “disco”, prize giving , end of year party and a lot of fun in between. Parents please encourage your kids to come and join us in learning about God and sharing in the fun.

Looking forward to seeing all the kids at JFM.

From The Children’s & Youth Ministry

The first month of me being involved in this ministry has been absolutely awesome. Many challenges and new ways of doing things and people to meet are met with equally exiting rewards of seeing children grow in their faith and leaders grow in there gifting and leadership.

Saturday 28 July saw all leaders and helpers involved in a workshop brainstorming about the whole children’s and youth ministry. Many positive aspects were noted as well as areas needing growth especially as far the youth ministry is concerned. All leaders are very exited and motivated to make this important ministry a success.

Children are an integral part of God’s family and as such are an important part of the church family. As a group during the workshop we set up a vision and mission statement specifically for children’s and youth ministry based on the greater vision and mission statement of the church.

The suggested statement is:
“God has called us to bring the children and youth of Valley to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to grow to be more Christ-like and to show God’s love and healing to his community. We want to know God’s will and understand what he wants us to do.”

For the rest of the year we have many exciting things planned for all.. I look forward to the opportunity to work and have fun with all the kids young and “mature”.

Blessings
Debbie
