Love Bottles
The Love Bottle concept was born after the discontinuation of the Love Loaf project, which was one of World Vision’s mission projects. 60% of the money generated via this project was paid over to World Vision and the church utilized the remaining 40% for work in the Social Concerns Commission.
Valley
adopted the idea and implemented it as part of the Social Concerns
outreach program. The money generated is utilized for projects within
the Social Concerns Commission. A child from World Vision is sponsored
on a monthly basis, and Meals an Wheels also
receives a contribution through this program. The balance of the money
is paid aver periodically to friends of Weskoppies (to purchase much need toiletries etc ,for
patients) and World Vision for their mission work
The Social concerns feeding scheme s currently supplying 18 families with a monthly grocery hamper. As we do not receive sufficient groceries to fill these hampers groceries have to be purchased to make up the shortfall. A hamper currently costs in the region of R150.00 per month and funds are necessary to pay for these groceries. To supplement our budget, money will also now have to be paid over, periodically, to this project to help alleviate the burden.
The bottles are available at the entrance to the church. These can be filled with small change and, when full can be handed to the stewards on a Sunday. As can be seen from the above, this little bottle is worth its weight in gold and serve many mission projects s within and outside the church.
To those folk who diligently support the Love Bottle Scheme, a very big thank you. Please look out for our new look green bottles when next you visit the church. Please take one; your small change can make difference in another person’s life.
