Ship Shapes Holiday Club 26 to 30 June 2006

As July Holidays rolled around, the chaos and excitement of Holiday Club hit its peak. More so for me as it was my first one at Valley! A team of over 14 leaders orchestrated the fun, worship, games and most importantly the learning time. Kitty Tsalavoutas guided us with her years of experience in Holiday Clubs. Our theme was Shipshapes and focused on the relationship between Jesus and Peter. We got to see the love, forgiveness and power of being friends with Jesus!

The hall was transformed into a ship with cabins decorated with fish, seaweed and nets. The children got a chance to do some decorating themselves with the winning cabin being the Red Triangles with proud leader Dane Elliott. Bronwyn Coulsen joined us for a day showing the children how to make their own prayer mobiles to hang at home.

The highlight of the day was a toss up between worship (lead by Kitty) and the drama, telling a story of pirates and shipmates! (Actors: Tim, Dane, Emma, Wendy, Tylan & Steve). The memory verse came in close competition, as a leader was mauled by the kids after stealing words from the memory verse!

Holiday Club this year was more than special to those of us involved. From a leadership perspective, this week has solidified the workings of the Spirit from the New Wine weekend. Leaders were receiving prayer and ministry throughout this time as well as sharing with the children. When God is at work, who can say what will happen, one of the awesome joys of being part of His plan here at Valley!
