Hennopspride Hike - 30 September 2006

Hiking the 4 x 4 track - 4 km The Saturday began relatively early. Everybody had to be at the church at 7:30 for the drive to Hennopspride.  After a bit of a wait for Donald, we eventually left at around 7:50.

On arrival at Hennopspride, we parked the cars under some lush green trees next to the Hennops River – thanks to those for holding the spot for us since they decided to make a weekend of it and had set up camp in the caravan park the previous evening already.

We all set off on the 4 km hike following the 4 X 4 trail.  The hike was pleasant and not strenuous at all – just a leisurely walk in the country on a Saturday morning.

Some steep inclines and declines were attempted without too much incident except for Peter Viljoen who decided he needed a rest as he went down one slippery part of the trail.

Chappy and Renee had a close call on some loose stones but managed to stay ‘afloat’.

On arrival back at the camp site, the fires were lit, the kids went for a swim, and the grownups sat down and chatted.

The braai was enjoyed by everyone and after lingering for a while longer, some of the people left at around 1:00 pm – while others stayed longer, enjoying the fresh air and peacefulness of the setting.

It was a great day and surely enjoyed by all.
