Valley Bikers
Cell Group
in conjunction with Bikers Church
Most of us belong to the CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association) but anyone is welcome to join us.
The CMA Logo is "RIDING FOR THE SON". To qualify for CMA colours the member should comply with the following:
• Be in possession of a valid motorcycle licence.
• Be a Reborn Christian, serving the Lord our God,
• Must be a member of a church and must be active in that church.
• In accordance with Romans 12:1 & 2, be able to present his/her body/life as living holy sacrifice acceptable to God and not conformed to the world. (E.g. have the Holy Spirit be in control of the tongue, eating habits and all aspects of his/her life.)
• Be a non-smoker.
• Not make use of alcohol
• Have done a Discipleship or Growing in Grace course.
• Have done an approved riding skills course.
The leadership must work as a team and not see each other as a threat but realise that we have been made different because we have different gifts. In combining these diverse gifts we become a force to be reckoned with. There is no place for individualism but only team work as the leadership of the chapter cooperate amongst themselves and as chapters submit themselves to the Lord, each other and the umbrella body of CMA.
There are many different Chapters (Groups) in the different areas. We belong to the Waverley Chapter, and we have 16 members. We meet every Thursday for Chapter meetings and every Wednesday for Cell.
CMA reaches out to many charities, through what we call Run for the Son. We organize blanket runs where blankets are collected. We also do the toy run, where toys are collected and distributed. We go up into Africa where motorcycles were donated to Pastors in order for them to get to the different churches. As a result, we now do regular trips up to maintain those bikes.
We attend Bike Rallies, where we set up a coffee tent and have tea and coffee available 24 hours a day. At these rallies there is a lot of alcohol and drug abuse, and therefore a perfect opportunity for ministry.
We do hospital visitation for bikers who are there due to accidents or illness. There are also many prayer warriors in CMA, and we have a large prayer chain ready at a moments notice, requests are sent via SMS and spreads like wild fire throughout the World.
We have prayer groups that go out every Saturday and meet at Sam on hills around Pretoria and pray for the whole city and its people.
We also go out to drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers and speak to the people there, after all many of our members were addicts as well
but are now saved by the Grace of God.
Our motto is:
REACHING BIKERS FOR CHRIST
In order to reach these hardened bikers, one has to dress like them, have bigger bikes and ride better than them, if you don't, there is no respect for you and they don't even want to talk to you. If your bike is fast and you ride well, they want to find out more about your bike and then the door is open for ministry.
God has blessed us with a special ability to ride well, and He has blessed us with motorcycles that we can use as bait to reach those bikers who are lost. We just need your prayer that God will continue to use us mightily amongst these men and women who ride on their motorcycles every day.
Our motto in Waverley is:
WE BURN RUBBER, NOT OUR SOULS
We meet on Wednesdays at 7:00pm
