Highlights of the past two terms...
As we enter 2008 it is with happiness that we remember all the fun times we had last year, but also with enthusiasm that we look forward to a year with many exciting things planned.
A quick rundown on highlights from the past term:
Our new confirmees had their post confirmation bash at Terry's. With mamma Terry looking over their shoulders the guys, and girls, showed talents we never even knew they had. With "Sing Star" on the go we could be shaping some new possible IDOLS. Even Brandon is a promising idols wannabe.
Up for some Splat attack"? The senior youth went paint balling! All suited up and ready for war with enough adrenaline pumping to run the comrades, the guys and girls took each other on. Needless to say. they went home more colourful, and exhausted, than when they arrived. Maybe next time we will do kids against parents?
One thing that is a critically important part of any congregation is integrated worship. We have had some amazing All Age Worship sessions the last 2 terms. Is it not great to come together and worship. We are all God's kids! I am really looking forward to all our future All Age Worship days.
As far as YPC, teen church, JFM and REPLAY are concerned we are having a ball. We ended off our year with prize giving and a brilliant play put on by teen church. We had one 100% attendance prize and eight 80% prizes last year. Wel! done to you all!
We ended off the year officially with a Christmas craft week for the kids. Leaders, helpers and kids had a blast. We made everything from wrapping paper to miniature Christmas trees. We even baked our own Christmas cookies. A big big thanks to all who helped, donated things and especially the sandwich ladies - you make the best sarmies ever!
We have also had to say goodbye to some of our very special leaders this year. Its difficult to let you go but I also know that you all have come to a season where you need to bless others as you have blessed us. We salute you for ail you have meant to the kids you have worked with - your shoes will be hard to fill. Thanks and till we meet again to: Gail, Tessa, Jax, Genevieve, Steven and David. Audrey has stepped down from coordinating the Pre-primary Department, but luckily will still be staying on to teach. Audrey, thank you for all your hard work and dedication over all the years.
As we await the New Year we have many new people who are coming aboard as leaders and helpers. Thanks to all of you for being open to your calling and for all that you will be meaning to us. Know that this is a calling God has placed upon your hearts and He will give you the abilities you need.
We have a great year planned for 2008 and with God's grace we will have something in store for kids of all ages, 0-100 years old. Keep your ears and eyes pealed for upcoming events.
As I end off I would like to say an enormously gigantic big thank you to all the leaders and helpers involved in both children's and youth ministry last year. Without you none of what we have done would have been possible. You are all amazing. God has richly blesses Valley with you all. Thank you also to Alan, Terry, Hannes, Carol, Felicity and Lynne for all your help and encouragement. A special thank you also to Richard and Irene for always ensuring that our premises are neat and ready.
To all the kids and parents, thank you for the part you play in our ministry. Without you we cannot J what God has called us to do. My prayer is that God will bless all through Valley and especially bless our families and keep them safe.
Blessings -
Debbie
