Holy Week Flower Festival

"The Life of Christ"

The Holy Week Flower Festival was held from 10 to 16 April 2006.

It all started on Monday morning with Harry Lince and his "ATeam" setting up tables in the Church the start of an incredibly joyful vibe of being in fellowship with God's people! Once the tables were up, people arrived throughout the day to do their arrangements in the Church. These were done by young and old! The youngest one was >2 ½  years old (Lara Ann Prinsloo) we will not dare to guess who the oldest one was! Arrangements were treated by many children; families; individuals; cell groups; Disciple Group, etc. Thank you to each of you!

There were 96 flower arrangements depicting the various stages of Jesus’ life on earth: his childhood; ministry, crucifixion,  etc.in so many innovative and creative ways. Approximately 60 to 70% of people involved said "I >am really not good at flowers!" Well, you wouldn't say that when you saw what they created! At a guess there were approximately 400 people who viewed these arrangements during the week. Many were invited by Valley members (neighbours; families; friends; colleagues, etc).

There was a "tea garden" in the mornings which also proved to be a wonderful time of connecting with family and friends. One could sense the presence of God while walking around and taking in the messages behind the flowers and allowing God to bring to life our understanding of what happened so many years ago.

>Many were touched in special ways. We would both like to say a BIG THANK YOU to each of you who participated in the Flower Festival in whichever way you did in the arrangements. Setting up; helping in the tea garden; watering of arrangements or just simply encouraging those doing the work! Last but not least, a special thanks goes to Liz Sistenich who was also an incredible help and inspiration to us.Lorraine Coetser & Ruth Durrant
