is Alpha?
Alpha is
a 10 week course including a weekend
that looks at the basics of the
Christian faith. During that period the

The teaching is done by video. After
each showing, the participants move into
small groups, each with a leader. This
gives everyone a chance to discuss any
issues and to ask any questions they
have, giving an opportunity to get to
know each other and learn together.
What happens each Alpha evening?
Each evening starts with a light supper,
after which a video is shown.
After the video there is time for group
discussions and the evening ends with
tea or coffee.
When are the Alpha evenings?
Alpha is held approximately twice a year
on Thursday evenings from 18:30 and ends
around 21:15. A full program will be
made available at the first evening.
What about children?
Where necessary, we will arrange a
crèche facility at the church.
Details will be provided on request.
What does the Alpha course cost?
Apart from the camp, there is no charge
for the Alpha course although any
donation will be warmly appreciated.
Alpha manuals are available at R15.00
each or a donation will be welcomed.
Will I have to read or pray aloud?
No person will be asked to read or pray
or be asked to give answers to direct
questions. Small group participation is
completely voluntary and confidential.

Alpha runs in
every type of church, including:

Anglican, Roman Catholic, Baptist,
Presbyterian, Methodist, Salvation Army, Free Church, Pentecostal,
Assemblies of God and House Churches.

All the churches provide the same
material, making alterations only to suit local culture.
